Public Relations
At PPMW, public relations was a core part of my role. I worked to position the organization as both a trusted health care provider and a leading voice in the reproductive rights conversation across the DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia region.
My work included:
Pitching stories to reporters and editors to highlight PPMW’s health services and advocacy priorities
Drafting press releases, op-eds, and executive remarks to amplify organizational messaging
Screening and preparing spokespeople, including training staff and leadership for media interviews
Managing media inquiries and attending interviews, ensuring accuracy and consistency of PPMW’s messaging
Coordinating crisis communications, including the Dobbs decision, where I served as a primary point of contact for press and executed a prepared media strategy within 24 hours
Extensive Media Coverage
This work resulted in extensive media coverage across major local and national outlets. Highlights include:
The Washington Post
Voice of America
WUSA9
WTOP
Bethesda Magazine
Bay News 9
I also secured coverage through press releases I authored, such as PPMW’s announcement of medication abortion at home services, which was featured in The Washington Post, DCist, and DC News Now.
By combining proactive outreach with rapid-response execution, I elevated PPMW’s visibility in the media and strengthened its reputation as a trusted health care provider and advocate for reproductive freedom.
