PPADMV Public Relations

At PPADMV, media engagement was part of my advocacy communications portfolio, though coverage was not prioritized at the same scale as for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (PPMW). The strategic focus was to maximize PPMW’s visibility in the press to drive awareness of health care services, so most media placements were directed there. Even so, I supported PR efforts for PPADMV by:

  • Pitching advocacy-focused stories and campaign narratives to local and regional reporters

  • Identifying, screening, and preparing spokespeople for media opportunities

  • Developing talking points and training staff and volunteers to stay message-aligned

  • Managing incoming media inquiries and coordinating logistics for interviews

  • Attending and supporting press conferences and interviews to ensure message discipline

This work ensured that PPADMV’s advocacy priorities were communicated clearly, strategically, and in alignment with both local campaigns and national reproductive rights conversations.
